Quick Trip to Dachau
Dachau is located in a small town in Germany just ten miles northwest of a town called Munich.
Many people were held there, including, but not limited to: political prisoners, Gypsies, Jews, and other slaves.
Over 15,000 people were killed and living there was a horror. You would wake up in the morning, and be forced to work, not knowing if you be killed that day. Dachau was open from 1933-1945. This camp was open for 12 years. The American soldiers came and liberated the camp.

The gate leading into Dachau. It was built in 1933. It was the first concentration camp of the Third Reich built in Dachau. This sign was built to make the prisoners believe that if they worked hard enough that they would be free.
This was of course fake.Quote: ""Work Makes Freedom"~ Unknown author

Prisoners cheering on U.S. soldiers after being liberated in dachau in May, 1945. “In their joy to be free, and longing to see their friends who had come at last, many prisoners rushed to the fence and died electrocuted. There were those who died cheering, because that effort of happiness was more than their bodies could endure. There were those who died because now they had food, and they ate before they could be stopped, and it killed them. I do not know words to describe the men who have survived this horror for years, three years, five years, ten years, and whose minds are as clear and unafraid as the day they entered. I was in Dachau when the German armies surrendered unconditionally to the Allies." said Martha Gellhorn, a reporter on the liberation. A gas chamber in Dachau concentration camp. It was made to open a pack of Zyklon-B pellets and dump the into a basket. Then, heated air (78.3 degrees Fahrenheit) was blown throughout the room. "Unlike the homicidal gas chamber at Dachau, there are no lights or electrical wiring in the disinfection chambers, and no drains on the floor. There are no exhaust vents in the ceiling because the rooms were aired out by opening the wide doors." Credit: http://www.scrapbookpages.com/DachauScrapbook/GasChamber/disinfection02.html
